Hello Visitors and Welcome to our website! My name is Ms. Denise Monie- Cunningham and I am a Kindergarten teacher here at Raleigh-Bartlett Meadows Elementary School. I am a 1979 graduate from Trezevant High School. Upon receiving my high school diploma I made the decision to enroll at LeMoyne-Owen College. I attended for two years and moved to Hinesville, Georgia where my husband was stationed at Fort Stewart. During my residence there I enjoyed being a mother, wife and friend. Enrolling in college there was not an option because of the travel time back and forth each day. I enjoyed spending quality time with my sons and preparing them for school. As you know, parents are our children's first teachers. After being away for about four years I moved back to Memphis and enrolled again at LeMoyne-Owen College. While there I majored in Social Work and completed my degree in 1989 with Cum Laude honors. About a year later I accepted an offer into a pilot program called Project Teach. This program was geared to students who had a degree in any other field but education. About twenty students were enrolled and we attended classes at LeMoyne-Owen, Memphis State, Shelby State, and we also had a few classes that were held at Memphis City Schools Board of Education. After successful completion of the requirements I earned my teaching certification. I have been teaching about twenty-three years and I still love what I do each day! I am a very family oriented person and I enjoy meeting, serving and helping others. The most important thing that I will ask of you is to be a part of your child's education experience. As a parent, you are always welcome to come and visit and share in the learning process of your child.
